Low Carbon Cooling in Tropical and Semi-Tropical Climates

Question: Portray The Low Carbon Cooling in Tropical and Semi-Tropical Climates? Answer: Presentation The worldwide admonition is a disturbing issue in present days. The addition in the worldwide temperature made an inordinate temperature increase in the tropical and the semi-tropical locales. This addition in the temperature has expanded the utilization of the customary cooling framework in these districts. This has expanded the carbon outflow from the regular cooling frameworks that is making an unfavorable impact on the worldwide condition (LuãÅ"ë†bken, 2013). The majority of the worldwide nations are attempting to decrease the carbon outflow from the regular cooling framework through actualizing a detached cooling framework in the structures. As of late QGBC-Qatar Green Blinding Council and the SIJ-Solar Institute Julich have shaken the hands to make a situation well disposed practical lodging venture (Qf.org.qa, 2014). The Qatar government cleared their goal to execute the earth agreeable uninvolved cooling through taking choice in actualizing the latent cooling through sun oriented cooling frameworks in all the arenas for the world cup (Marsh, 2014). Along these lines, all through this report the investigation of the accessible aloof cooling techniques will be talked about as per the expense and the adequacy of the strategies for the home and modern reason. 1.0 Current Issues Figure 1: The High Temperature Zone (Source: Sciencedirect.com, 2014) The tropical and the semi-tropical district topographically situated inside the malignancy 2327N to the Capricorn 2327S (Sciencedirect.com, 2014). The provincial temperature around there is a lot higher than different territories over the globe. As per the examination by Chaussinand (2014) the normal temperature distinction ranges inside 10 C 15 C. Subsequently, the utilization of the regular cooling framework is a lot of wide in this area. The rising financial condition has expanded the development of the individual and the mechanical structure in these territories particularly in India, Singapore, Malaysia and Qatar Li et al. (2013). This monetary development has expanded the utilization of the cooling framework inside this locale. This addition in the ordinary cooling framework expanded the interest of the force age. The aggregate impact of these two has expanded the higher carbon discharge in the earth. This higher carbon outflow has functioned as an impetus for the warming of the temperature in these zones (Fang, 2014). In Qatar as per the investigation by Suljic (2014) the force utilization has expanded by roughly 9.30%. In any case, as indicated by the dominant part segment of this higher steady interest has originated from the higher establishment of the traditional cooling framework. As indicated by the investigation by Biswas (2014) unmistakably showed that the structure and the materials utilized for the improvement of a structure significantly expands within temperature. This examination has additionally indicated that the broken plan and the determination of an inappropriate material contributed in the 70% development of the inner temperature. Along these lines, the fundamental issue is that to convey such a plan, that will assist the houses with decreasing within temperature and this decrement in the temperature will hinder the utilization of the ordinary cooling frameworks in the houses. 2.0 Passive Cooling Figure 2: Passive Cooling Methods for Energy Efficient Buildings (Source: Sciencedirect.com, 2014) The idea of the detached cooling says that, it is a preventive measure that will help in the overheating of the inside areas inside the structure. As indicated by Liu et al. (2013) the uninvolved cooling procedure includes a three stage conceal in the basic part of the structure. These three viewpoints are: 1. A component ought to be grown with the goal that within temperature doesn't increment. In doing this, the measures that can be taken are sun oriented concealing of the rooftop, utilization of the intelligent components in the development of the structure and utilization of shading that helps in decreasing the age of the warmth. 2. The structure ought to be built that it stays ready to keep the equalization inside the warmth age and warmth discharge for the structure. In doing this, the structure ought to give adequate space to the wind current and approaching of the daylight during the daytime. 3. The usage of the air penetration component to lessen the inside warmth age. To accomplish this vitality productive material ought to be utilized and should utilize such inside shading that lessens the warmth age (Ni and Zhao,2013). 3.0 Different accessible plans As indicated by S.K. Ng et al. (2013) the most acclaimed and the most pragmatic structures that are accessible as of late are the: 1. ZCB-Zero carbon building 2. ZEB-Zero vitality building In any case, as of late a half and half framework has been built up that utilizes the sustainable power source to run the cooling frameworks introduced in the structure. Be that as it may, as indicated by Gholami et al. (2014) the improvement of the hostage house can possibly execute the detached cooling however the usage cost is extremely high. In UK and USA the usage of the ZCB and ZEB, based structure has advanced easily. Be that as it may, in Qatar and in the Asian nations the activity is exceptionally low. As indicated by the MoU between the Qatar Green Blinding Council and the Solar Institute Julich will assist with actualizing the lower carbon emanation structures in Qatar (Qf.org.qa, 2014). 4.0 Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) Design Approach Figure 3: The ZCB Design (Sample Only) (Source: Ng et al. 2015) As indicated by Chvez and Melchor (2014) ZCB is the most appropriate procedure for the development of the Zero carbon building. Be that as it may, as indicated by him the structuring of this sort of building is a lot of complex. The principle subject of this development is to build such a sort of house, that is fit for reaction to the atmosphere. As per Halirova et al. (2014) the cooling season distinction in Qatar and London is a lot of high and because of it the essential structuring of this lord of building is to obstruct the immediate warmth originating from the sun and letting the wind current openly inside the structure. Additionally, it builds up a characteristic ventilation framework that keeps the harmony between the ideal temperature and within warming. The common ventilation can decrease the overheating more proficiently than the mechanical ventilation framework. Qi et al. (2013) the improvement of the huge open territory helps in diminishing the temperature effectively alongside the correct wind current arrangements. The south-bound plan advancement permits the progression of the air more openly than different structures. The accompanying figures will show probably the most broadly utilized wind stream support framework inside the structures. Figure 4: Open Plan formats (Source: Yourhome.gov.au, 2014) The open arrangement format permits the free streaming of the approaching air through the open space. This free progression of the air helps in lessening the inside warmth of the structure (Ogunbiyi et al. 2014). In the event that the structure is developed through keeping the side of the structure in the southend, the air will be coursed through the windows and will decrease the inside temperature. Figure 5: Convection air Movement (Source: Yourhome.gov.au, 2014) As indicated by Velasco et al. (2014) the convective air development permits the warm air to gets ventilated through the upper board where as it permits the cool air to come in through the lower boards. The cool air comes inside the structure through the open spaces and it courses to the upper floor and is ventilated through the upper floor, as it gets warm. The south-bound structures with dissipating cooling alternatives get the greater part of the advantage from this sort of plan (Henry and Kato, 2014). Figure 6: Earth coupling cooling instrument (Source: Yourhome.gov.au, 2014) As per Shari and Soebarto (2014) the earth coupling is the most manageable answer for the uninvolved cooling of the structures. Through this component the house, stay ready to keep the ground temperature low that helps in cooling of the inside segment during the evening time. Nonetheless, as per if the concealing is done through unstructured way it can surpass the degree of solace in the inside segment. The examination by Waris et al. (2014) has indicated that the ground temperature fluctuates consequently the earth coupling will be a lot of powerful for the nation. 4.0.1 ZCB Life cycle Figure 7: Concept of Life Cycle for ZCB (Source: Ng et al. 2015) As indicated by Tsukiyama et al. (2014) the ZCB doesn't have any normalized structure for the development or setting benchmark. Along these lines, it gets extreme to compute the existence pattern of the ZCB. In any case, considering the lower utilization of the traditional cooling framework and the other electrical types of gear in the daytime the structure could have an actual existence pattern of 50 years (Ng et al. 2015). To accomplish the zero carbon assembling the proprietor of the structure and the constructor of the structure needs to put center around the improvement of the sustainable power sources inside the reason of the structure. On this specific circumstance, the top of the structure could be utilized as the wellspring of capricious force. The establishment of the sun oriented board will assist with building up a self-manageable force asset for the structure (Waris et al. 2014). In this way, through this advancement the interest for the force extraction from the nationa l framework will be diminished for that building. This will likewise assist with diminishing the carbon outflow from that building. 4.0.2 Carbon nonpartisanship As indicated by Zhai et al. (2014) the carbon lack of bias is the summation of couple of elements. In this manner, the carbon nonpartisanship is: Carbon Neutral= Emission related with power provided to the building+ Emission diminished through embracing the sustainable power source + Emission related with the biodiesel. In this way, to accomplish the zero carbon assembling the wellspring of the sustainable power source ought to be created inside the reason of the structure.

Defending Slavery free essay sample

Guarding Slavery The motivation behind this paper is to talk about the issue of African subjugation in America in the prior to the war by late eighteenth century and before the prewar emergency as examined in Paul Finkelman’s book: Defending Slavery. This paper will sum up the initial segment of book taking as a principle theme racial parts of the subjugation. After the early on outline , this paper will center in two explicit areas found in the second piece of the book: â€Å"Religion and Slavery† and â€Å"Racial Theory and Slavery†.Lastly, this paper will examine these two topics utilized as an avocation of African Slavery in early history of America In his book â€Å"Defending Slavery†, Finkelman presents an assortment of authentic reports composed by lawmakers, attorneys, priests and an unknown writer supporting proslavery. In the initial segment of the book, Finkelman, gives a quickly prologue to the contentions supporting genius servitude in America during the Antebellum. The musings shielding servitude share for all intents and purpose that subjection in America was legitimized dependent on racial aspects. The sociological term â€Å"mudsill theory† was first utilized by James Henry Hammond, a South Carolina Senator. This term was set as a solid racial contention for subjugation. The fundamental reason of this hypothesis was that every single incredible society must have somebody to do the humble work, so as to make a differentiation between social classes. Likewise, as indicated by this hypothesis this low class work must be appointed to blacks who were viewed as a substandard race. Under this setting bondage contributed to make a plentiful social hole between the â€Å"white† and â€Å"black† races.Religion and Slavery: In this segment of the book, Finkelman assembled four records composed by three agents of the Baptist and Protestant religion and by a mysterious individual and altered by De Bow’s Review, a very much flow ed magazine in the South piece of America inside nineteenth century. The principal report of this area is â€Å"The Duties of Christian Masters† composed by Reverend A. T. Holmes in 1851. This archive won a cost offered by the Alabama Baptist State Coveention for the best essay.Holmes called the slaveowners as â€Å"Christian masters† and acknowledged that â€Å"the masters† had the duty to hold captives of a mediocre race and should manage and secure the workers. Also, Holmes noticed that white race experts were of â€Å"a prevalent intellect† and that blacks were â€Å"ignorant†. The exposition â€Å"Slavery and the Bible† composed by an unknown creator and altered by De Bow’s Review. The creator expresses that the lessons of the Bible are taken as good truth and in light of the fact that the Bible portrays unmistakably the nearness of bondage, in this way it should likewise be viewed as good truth. The report â€Å"Duty of Clergymen in Relation to the Marriage of Slaves† from the Protestant Episcopal Convention of South Caroline affirms that slaves could get hitched by the church however in the event that the slave proprietor thought about an important partition of the couple, he had the power to isolate them to consent to the â€Å"divine right† from God to ace their slaves’ lives. Thornton Stringfellow composed â€Å"The Bible Argument: Or Slavery in the Light of Divine Revelation†.This report is an abstract of the religious contention shielding bondage as expressed in the Old and New Testaments. Religion used to legitimize bondage had as a center help the Bible lessons however its translation was unquestionably impacted yet their str ong conviction that God permitted subjection as well as appointed. Since racial safeguards of subjection relate strict contentions dependent on Bible references it is important to break down the records assembled in the â€Å"Racial Theory and Slavery† area. Racial Theory and Slavery:The area entitled â€Å"Racial and Theory and Slavery† in the second piece of the book contains four archives composed by Samuel A Cartwright, a South Caroline doctor; William Grayson, a South Caroline legal advisor and legislator; George Fitzhugh, a self instructed legal counselor and humanist; and Josiah C. Nott, another notable doctor from Alabama who continued that blacks and whites originated from various species. These records were proposed to help the hypothesis that dark race was diverse that white race as well as their beginnings originated from various roots. Cartwright and Nott had comparative approach.Their clarification from the natural stance was in some point connected to a strict translation of then book of scriptures. In this way, Cartwright delineates the birthplace of the three most dominating racial gatherings on Earth: Asian, Europeans and Blacks. He refers to the Book of Genesis with the narrative of Noah and his three children nd their settlements in three distinctive topographical zones: North of Europe, Asia and Africa. As indicated by Cartwright’s scriptural understanding, this last mainland was involved by Cannan and his descendents were dark race as well as were assigned by God;s will to be hireling. Josiah Nott widely composed papers about race. His contention depended on a hypothesis known as polygenesis. Nott asserted that there had been various manifestations creating prevalent and substandard races and dark race was bound to perpetual mediocrity. George Fitzhugh’s sociological sentiment about subjection were silly; he expressed that bondage was the absolute best establishment at any point made In his eyes it is the absolute best foundation at any point made. Southern subjugation is great, since like the family hound, slaves are glad to be sluggish and minded for.G Although Notts compositions on race were frequently unreasonable in content, extraordinary in language, and did not have a logical establishing, they were commonly acknowledged by a large portion of the main racial scholars of the day in the United States and Europe. Basic Analysis In Paul Finkelman’s book, especially the sections devoted at the safeguard of subjugation dependent on racial and strict defense express that individuals of color where made by God and put in Africa with the one of a kind reason to be hireling of white individuals. This announcement was deductively disassembled by the Charles Darwin’s Theory of Universal Common Descent distributed in 1889. This hypothesis depends on solid logical perceptions, declares that â€Å"all living beings as of now present on Earth share a typical hereditary progenitor with each being the relative from a solitary unique animal varieties. † During more than one hundred and fifty years after Darwin introduced this hypothesis, various scientists have demonstrated that Darwin’s attestations were correct. In 1851, Samuel Cartwright, a notable New Orleans doctor for committed his clinical work on rewarding slaves and concentrated on what they called â€Å"negro diseases† composed a report to the Medical Association of Louisiana called: â€Å"The maladies and physical eccentricities of Negro race† . Cartwright’s report portrayed about human studies and starting point of the races giving a scriptural translation. This paper was plainly f ounded on simple physical perceptions made on his clinical practice instead of logical evidence. The data about life systems and physiological responses of individuals of color was one-sided by his proslavery conclusion. These days, the absence of supporting examination of his â€Å"scientific report† made it feeble to be utilized as a genuine protection of subjugation. Albeit, a portion of the realities introduced in the report were right regarding anatomical and physiological contrasts among highly contrasting individuals; these realities were stacked of his own convictions star slavery.Furthermore, these realities were introduced such that a typical lay peruser will consider dark to be white individuals as two extraordinary and individual human species with no hereditary connection and with no likenesses as a person plummeting from a similar hereditary tree and regular parentage as Darwin’s hypothesis. Another significant angle that repudiates his guard is the presentation of occasions described in the Bible, explicitly in the Book of Genesis with respect to Noah and his three sons.According to the Genesis, they were settled in three distinct mainlands: Europe, Asia and Aftica. Canna n and his relatives involved the current Ethiopia and under God’ will were alloted to be workers of the other two siblings. On the off chance that in certainty the Cannan and his Ethiopian descendents were dark, how we can clarify that they were particular to the remainder of races when it is notable and demonstrated by long periods of humanities research that the most seasoned human remains were found in Ethiopia. These significant revelations in the investigation of human advancement incorporate Ardi, a primate who lived 4. 4 million years back in what is currently Ethiopia and â€Å"Lucy† another primate, who is assessed to have lived 3. 2 million years prior. In light of the investigation of her bone basic remains showed that human progenitors were up and strolling multiple millions years back. In addition, Charles Darwin’s hypothesis expresses that comparable species, for example, people, primates, and monkeys presumably developed, over a time of a huge number of years, from a typical, chimp like ancestor. If both significant people remains were found in Ethiopia and the utilization of regular relative hypothesis, thusly we can infer that we as a whole current people plunge from an African progenitor. This obvious end result makes the racial contention of bondage powerless on the grounds that there isn't, for example, sub-par or predominant race since we as a whole individuals originate from a similar predecessor. There are phenotypic qualities that recognized a race or ethnic gathering of another yet it doesn’t make them genuinely and mentally predominant. Charles Darwin didn't imagine that people developed from monkeys.Rather, he accepted, in light of numerous long stretches of exploration in the fields of b

The Importance of the Scaffold in The Scarlet Letter  Since the very beginning people have needed to go up against their evil. Some depend on strict confidence to help with the battle against transgression while others add to their wrongdoings by deceiving conceal different sins. At long last, man must independent †as a corrupt animal before God. In Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter, Dimmesdale battles with his transgression until he finds the framework as a spot to discover harmony with himself. That platform holds more significance than only some place to denounce detainees. It is the one spot where Dimmesdale felt freed to state anything he wishes. In Puritan culture, the framework is utilized to embarrass and rebuke detainees, be it witches at the stake, criminals in the stocks, or a killer swinging from the scaffold. Be that as it may, without realizing what is happening, it can likewise be very frightening. â€Å"Without any exertion of his will, or capacity to limit himself, he [Dimmesdale] screeched resoundingly: an objection that went ringing as the night progressed, and was beaten back starting with one house then onto the next, and resonated from the slopes out of sight; as though an organization of villains, distinguishing so much wretchedness and dread in it, had made a toy of the sound, and were bandying it to and fro.† (pp. 178-9) Indeed, the townsfolk felt the last mentioned. â€Å"Drowsy slumberers confused the cry either with something horrible in a fantasy, or for the clamor of witches.†(p. 179) They didn't comprehend this was his compromise.

Thought Stopping and Controlling Obsessive Thoughts

Thought Stopping and Controlling Obsessive Thoughts Phobias Treatment Print Thought Stopping and Controlling Obsessive Thoughts By Lisa Fritscher Lisa Fritscher is a freelance writer and editor with a deep interest in phobias and other mental health topics. Learn about our editorial policy Lisa Fritscher Updated on February 21, 2020 Eric Audras/ONOKY/Getty Images More in Phobias Treatment Causes Symptoms and Diagnosis Types Thought stopping is common in cognitive-behavioral therapy. The clinician teaches the technique to the client, who can use it to stop racing thoughts or obsessive worrying. In this technique, when the obsessive or racing thoughts begin, the client says, clearly and distinctly, Stop! This then allows the client to substitute a new, healthier thought. Many therapists encourage the client to, at first, yell out the Stop! This helps focus the attention on the word and away from the obsessive thought. Later, the client will be able to mentally yell the word to themselves without needing to say it aloud. Does Thought Stopping Really Work? While some therapists and group therapy programs promote thought stopping as an effective technique, the results of a 2010 study by a group of Yale psychologists disagree. One study found an association between thought-stopping strategies and greater depression and anxiety, not less. The psychologists found an association between anxiety reduction and other strategies including, cognitive restructuring, acceptance, and problem-solving techniques. Thought Stopping DIY Do you have repetitive negative thoughts swirling around in your psyche youd like to get rid of? You might be having irrational feelings of jealousy, or maybe you experience negative self-talk that undermines your self-confidence. You dont need a trained clinician to apply thought-stopping strategies,  although some people may require professional assistance. If youre helping your child, explain that the two of you are going to try something to help alleviate their negative thoughts. You can have a shot at doing it yourself by following these four steps: Say Stop! when you experience a recurring thought, either aloud or to yourself.Negate the bad thought in a positive way, by exchanging the negative thought for a positive one. Replace I cannot... or  I will not... with I can... or I will...Take a deep breath, or learn a breathing relaxation technique, to help you relax instead of feeling anxiety, and say the peaceful thought out loud or in your mind repeatedly until the bad thought disappears.Complete these steps every time you notice the recurring thought. Stress Inoculation Training, PTSD, and Thought Stopping Stress inoculation training (SIT), along with cognitive behavior therapy, is particularly successful at preventing the development of chronic post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This technique also speeds up the recovery for female victims of sexual violence with PTSD, according to information from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Thought stopping is one of a variety of coping skills taught during SIT. A Comparative Analysis of a Social Problem - 3300 Words

A Comparative Analysis of a Social Problem (Essay Sample) Content: A Comparative Analysis of a Social ProblemStudents nameInstitution of learning A Comparative Analysis of a Social ProblemIntroductionPoverty is a rooted social problem in many developing countries. It is estimated that more than one person in every five people globally lives in extreme poverty living with only less than $1.25 per day (Bhalla Luo, 2013). Developing countries have and are still struggling to eradicate extreme poverty within their citizens. The absolute gap between the rich and the poor in these countries has been so wide giving these countries a lot of challenges in reducing that gap. Among the most affected countries are the two most populous nations in the world; India and China. These two countries have a combined population of over 30% of the total world population (Bhalla Luo, 2013). The two countries have in the recent past made very broad steps in the economic development making them among the major economic giants in the world. This developmen t has not been without challenges. Among the challenge that has been evolved with this development is the issue of social-economic parity. The number of individual still in the extreme poverty in these nation remain immense. A lot of efforts need to be taken by the respective governments to counter this problem. The problem of poverty in these countries remain very critical to their effort to attain the global economic dominance. China has in the recent past be compared to the USA in term of global trade domination and economic wealth, and India has also be named as the next big thing in world economy (Shi, 2014). Having such high prospects of the global economic domination, these two countries then have no option but to tackle the issue of poverty in their countries. Poverty reduction in these two countries is also paramount as it also signifies the economics improvement in these nations. This paper will compare and contrast the magnitude of poverty in these two countries, it will a lso compare and contrast the efforts that have been put forward to eradicate the poverty in these nationsExtent/Magnitude of the ProblemComparison. In both India and China, the most affected population resides in the rural areas of these two nations. Rural-urban parity in China is estimated to be above 35% of the total countries wealth. The parity is a tread of a much concern to the government in China considering that China urban and rural population does not differ in that extend. In fact, it is estimated that more than 50% of the total China population resides in the rural areas (Shi, 2014). They engage in activities such as agriculture, forestry, fishing and animal husbandry that shows less level of productivity and income. Most of individual in the rural areas still have no proper access to education, basic social amenities like sanitation and medical cares. The inability of the government to provide these imperative social amenities has furthered the poverty in these regions. H unger and lack of proper diet are also common issues in the rural region in China that add to the poverty scale in the country. It is estimated that more than 90% of the total poor population in China resides in the rural regions (Shi, 2014).India, just like China, has most of its extreme poor individuals residing in the rural area. A total of 30% of the rural population lives in extreme poverty with less than $1.25 per day. The number is very high considering that at least 70% of the total India population resides in the rural areas (Panagariya et al, 2013). The rural poverty in India accounts for 77% of the total India poor population. Just like in China, the disparity between the urban and the rural total countries wealth is it high. In India, it is estimated that there is more than 45% parity in urban-rural wealth. The natural calamities in the rural India such as drought are the most contributors to the high rural poverty. There are constant hunger and lack of proper nutrition in these regions of the country. There is still lack of basic social amenities like health centers and education institution thus these regions has high illiteracy and a high level of disease infection and deaths. Most of the people who reside in the rural region do basic economic actives like agriculture that has fewer returns (Panagariya et al, 2013).Another similarity in the poverty of these two nation is the most affected and venerable individual in the society. In both nations, women, elderly citizens, minorities like disabled and children are the most venerable individuals. In China, opportunities are mostly based in the urban areas, the most educated and the flexible person in the rural and other poverty affected areas, move to the urban areas to look for employment (Shi, 2014). Mostly men migrate to the cities to look for opportunities leaving children and their wifes behind. Women and children thus struggle with poverty in rural areas and only keeps their hopes on the littl e sent back home by the working men.The elderly also have no employment or any means of earning. 35% of the total population of elderly people in China leaves below the poverty line (Shi, 2014). They are also very venerable due to their increased expensive medication associated with old age. Lastly, the minority groups like the disabled also are affected. The government of China has not put up measures to ensure these groups are always covered thus making them very venerable to poverty as they cannot work to improve their standard. More than 50% of minorities groups lives in extreme poverty in China (Shi, 2014).In India, women and children are also very venerable. Just like in China, most men in India have secured themselves some employment in the urban areas leaving children and women back in the rural region. The men occasionally send home some income of what they earn but in most cases it too little to satisfy the hunger of money in rural areas. Of the total population living in poverty in India, women and children make over 65% of the total poverty population (Panagariya et al, 2013).The elderly in India also get it very had to earn due to their old age and lack of concern by the government. The India government has not put any measures to ensure proper survival of the elderly in the society. The old mostly are left under the care of family members to support them who in most cases are also poor to support them (Panagariya et al, 2013). More than half of the total population of the elderly people in India lives in extreme poverty. The minority groups and disabled are also discriminated in the job market thus most of them still live in extreme poverty.ContrastDespite the two counties having most poor people in the rural areas and most of them been women, children and the minorities, they both have variation in the nature and extent of poverty in they counties. The level of poverty in India is very high compared to the level of poverty in China. It is estima ted that a total of between 90 million to 100 million Chinese still leaves below the poverty line (Shi, 2014). This population makes 6%-7% of the total population in China (Shi, 2014). The rural population living below the poverty line is in China is between 55 million-70 million of the total population leaving in below the poverty line in the country (Shi, 2014). This figure is less compared to the India statistics on the level of poverty both national and in regard to poverty in rural regions.India is the leading country in the world in terms of the total population living below the poverty line. India has an estimated 300 million individual living below $1.25 per day (Panagariya et al, 2013). This means that more than 25% of the total India population lives below the poverty line (Panagariya et al, 2013). Unlike in China where only one person in eleven people is extremely poor, in India in every four people, at least one of them lives below the poverty line. This is the indicatio n of how the extent of poverty varies in these two countries. In India, this social problem is wanting and is of larger magnitude compared to China. In rural India, the extent of the poverty is much deeper as compared to China. A total of 231 million individuals in rural India lives in extreme poverty (Panagariya et al, 2013). This is unlike China that only 55 million -70 million individual in rural areas lives under the poverty line (Panagariya et al, 2013).The urban poverty also differs in the two countries. In China, only around 30 million people in the urban regions live below the poverty line (Shi, 2014). The number thus means that only 5% of the total urban population lives below the poverty line (Shi, 2014). The number was much lower in the past but have eventually increased as more people move to the cities to look for opportunities. The state-owned enterprises also lost a lot of jobs after they failed to keep up with the private sector thus adding to the poverty issue in th e countries cities. China does not have such big slum as it is common in major cities in the world. It can be a surprise to see less poor housing in Shanghai and Beijing as compared to New York (Shi, 2014).This does not mean that everyone is rich to afford the good houses, the government own and controls all housing the cities, it does not give rooms to slum development. If this was not the case, then several slums would have developed in China cities. Due to the limitation in the development of cities slums, most extremely poor people in the cities have a lot of difficulties finding housing. Development in the recent past has identified that they are several cave families in the big cities of China like Beijing. These cave families lives in sewers tunnels were the warm sewer pipes keep them warm. More than 500 families across the countries have been said to live under such life in major cities. This is an indication of ...

Sample Example Paragraph - Junk Food Junkie

One way to make our writing more vivid and interesting is to add examples that support the main point. The following student  paragraph is clearly organized and effectively developed with specific examples. The one thing the paragraph lacks is a satisfactory concluding sentence. Respond to the questions that follow Junk Food Junkie and see if you can come up with a good ending for the paragraph. Junk Food Junkie I confess: I am the worst junk food junkie in this great gluttonous galaxy of sugar, salt, and fat. You can keep your lentils, granola, and prunes. I want calories and carbohydrates, burgers and fries. Within minutes after waking up grouchy and puffy-eyed in the morning, I stumble to the kitchen and pour myself a tall glass of ice-cold Pepsi. Ahh! My tongue tingles and my eyes pop open. I then have the energy to eat. I rummage through the refrigerator, push aside the yogurt and apples, and there it is: a slice of congealed pepperoni pizza. Thats enough to get me off to school and through my first class. Of course, I then head to the store on my first break for a Snickers bar and a Diet Mountain Dew. The lite soft drink, you see, compensates for the calories in the candy. An hour or two later, for lunch, I gobble down a row of Golden Double Stuf Oreos and a peanut butter sandwich, all sloshed down with a pint of chocolate milk. Later in the afternoon, I stop at Five Guys to devour a d ouble bacon cheeseburger and a monster order of sodium-loaded fries. Finally, before going to bed, I knock off a bag of Philly Cheese Steak Rippled Potato Chips—dripping with onion dip. Study Questions The writer uses a chronological order to organize her examples. List the time transitions that you find in the paragraph.  (See  Cohesion Strategies: Transitional Words and Phrases.)Identify the short sentences used by the writer to guide us from the Pepsi example to the pizza example. What sentence does the writer use to guide us from the pizza example to the next example?Create a sentence that you think would conclude this sentence effectively. Sample Responses Here are examples of one students response to the four study questions: (1) The time transitions in this paragraph include Within minutes after waking, then, An hour or two later, Later, and Finally. (2) and (3) These sentences should be easy to spot:- Ahh! My tongue tingles and my eyes pop open. I then have the energy to eat.- Thats enough to get me off to school and through my first class. (4) Various answers are possible. Heres the concluding sentence that appeared in the students original paragraph: Only then do I drift off to sleep, counting onion rings in the deep fry and hot dogs on the grill. Note that complete sentences, as well as individual words and phrases, can be used to make smooth transitions in a paragraph.

Hope And Change The First African American President Of...

Hope and Change? History was made in 2008. The first African American was elected President of the United States. In Barack Obama’s acceptance speech he described his election as a defining moment and one that would bring change to America. Has that change come? Race relations have always been a topic of great debate, even more so since an African American was elected President. Can a black president change the way people think about race and its place in everyday life? As we are in Obama’s last year of his second term it is obvious that racial bias has seen little improvement in the United States. Trending polls point to no improvement, recent high profile events are keeping it in the news and there has been no substantial decrease in unemployment among blacks in America. Since electing the first African American President in 2008, there have been many new topics that polls can concentrate on. Everything from what America thinks about the historic election to what they think the future will hold because of it. What is evident is that the polls speak of an America that may still have hope but is not so certain that change is coming. A poll in November of 2008 showed that sixty-seven percent of voters thought that Obama would have a good first term and sixty-nine percent said they made them feel hopeful. Fifty-two percent thought his election will lead to better race relations. Is The Real Life Is This Just Fantasy - 1137 Words

Is This the Real Life? Is This Just Fantasy? Not everything is easy come, easy go in the music industry. It takes talent, time, and effort to produce something out of the ordinary. Queen was the band that took a chance, creating something new and great for their era. They were easily considered uncontrollable and rowdy on and off the stage, but their work ethic in the studio was second to none. The band made a few attempts to extend popularity with the media that blends unusual song structure and form, but failed. Queen never quit and utilized the opportunities from their failures to create a high standard of classical and contemporary blends of genres, including one of their best known songs â€Å"Bohemian Rhapsody†. At the time it was released in 1975, â€Å"Bohemian Rhapsody† was very complex and the most expensive single ever made. Arguably the greatest rock song of all time, it became a commercial success after its release, remaining top position of the UK Singles Chart for nine weeks. It also caught fire in the United States but was undeniably more popular in Europe. Freddie Mercury, the lead vocalist of the rock band and writer of the song, intended for it to be a ‘mock opera’, which was completely out of the norm of rock songs of its time. It follows a definite operatic sense including choruses of multi-tracked voices, alternating with aria form solos, and excessive emotions creating a complicated plot. After mosque I go to my friends house and play out till about 8.00 pm when I get back from my friends house I come home and eat some chappatees and some drink to go with it. If I get late for a lesson my best excuse is that â€Å"Miss, everyone came late to registration and when they came they all started messing around, and by the time we got our registration done, every one was already 5 minutes into their lessons.† This master excuse always works for me whenever I am late for a lesson. Today for the first 2 lessons I have English, then I have got break time, then the second 2 lessons I have Science and History and for the last 2 lessons I have got RE (full course) and Business Communication Systems. For some strange reason the first 2 lessons go awfully slow and so do the last 2 lessons. On the last lesson everyone is tired and can’t wait till home time, at this time nobody talks and all you hear is tick tock tick tock and then when its time to go everyone cheers and go running to their cars or wherever they go at home time. Well for me, I go to the school gates and wait for my friends and walk up to where we all split up one of my friends goes to the left, the other friend goes right and I go straight up ahead, once I get to the shops, I would always get a packet of chewing gum and a bottle of Fanta Fruit Twist which is my best drink. When I get home my mum would prepare me a cup of tea with some biscuits, after this small feast I run back into my bedroom and get changed into something more suitable for me and go get my very thick jacket, the reason I take this jacket is because everyone is bound to get hit with a stick by the mosque teacher either for not reading properly or talking to a friend, I go mosque to read the Qur’an and learn about Islam and read Urdu too. After mosque I go to my friends house and play out till about 8.00 pm when I get back from my friends house I come home and eat some chappatees and some drink to go with it. During my food time I watch some TV and its normally Eastenders. I then go upstairs and do all my school homework. After this I get changed into my night-clothes and go to sleep. Beep, beep, beep, beep â€Å"Oh man, is it 7.30 am already.† If you think about school, it’s like a test, if you get it all wrong then you won’t get a good job, if not that then you’ll get nothing at all. So you have to accept getting up early and doing the best you can at every thing even if you don’t like it. How to cite A Day in the Life of Fahad, Essays

Nike is so famous and popular brand of sports items that people ready to pay more dollars because of the quality of products. The pricing strategies that adopted by the Nike is Value based pricing as compared to the other shoe retailers who offer low price products. Nike currently uses the same strategy as the customers of Nike indicated that what matters to them most is the quality of the products not the prices of the products (Ahmed, Brohi, Bhutto, Abbas, 2016). The prices charged by Nike are based on the services it offers to their customers and also the reasonable prices of the competitors whose quality of products is matchable to their own products like the prices of Adidas and Reebok. People in Marketing Mix of Nike There are two categories of people in the marketing mix of the Nike as one is the employees of the Nike and other are customers of Nike in the target market. Customers are very important for the success of Nike as the company is focused only on the niche customers and to generate more business it is important to find out the demand of the people for the products offered by the Nike. Nike consists of well experienced and educated employees who deliver the customer services. Nike provides training for the management and sales people for delivering the best quality of services and also offers bonuses and rewards to their employees on the basis of their performance. The employees of the Nike are the best source to get the feedback from their customers regarding the quality of products (Singh, 2012). Process in the Marketing Mix of Nike The process and system of delivering the services of Nike to the customer is very effective as it has a great distribution channel, fast and speedy production activities and best execution of the services. The entire process of manufacturing the shoes and the way it is presented in the retail stores of Nike are the components of the Nike. The customers of target market do not care about that how the business is running, but they are attracted towards the services and working of the Nike brand stores. Physical evidence as marketing mix of Nike Nike has a great brand image and presence and establishment of Nike brand exists and doing well in the marketplace. The brand image of Nike is that much strong that when people think of sports, then one brand comes into the mind of the customers and that is Nike. Nike marketing leaders and its brand image have shown the physical evidence and psychological evidence in their market (Lam, Schuler, Adams, Hubert, 2014). Partnership in the marketing mix of Nike Nike has done partnerships to promote their products and to drive the innovation. Nike is in partnership with the firm named as Apollo Global management for the purpose of supply chain of clothes in America. This is the strategy to promote the brand and generate higher revenues. Nike has been also in partnership with LLamasoft for the innovation and sustainability of the products. This is the strategy of Nike to manage their supply chain activities and make a good brand image in the market. Contemporary Issues and their impact There are many issues that can be faced by the Nike at the time of marketing and there are some important things that need to consider while implementing the marketing strategies. The contemporary issue that may found in the way of Marketing of Nike includes corporate social responsibility, social media interactions and technology developments because of globalization. These issues are explained and their impact on the marketing of the Nike. CSR: - The corporate social responsibility of Nike is to focus on the environment by not harming it with their production activities. This is the social responsibility of Nike to focus on the manufacturing of the sports shoes without causing any damage to the environment. As per the marketing mix of promotion, the company maintains some public relations by organizing the events in charity organization and its a social responsibility of the company that out of the revenues of the company, a few amounts are donated to the charitable institutions and this is done for a philanthropic purpose, for the welfare of mankind (Connor, 2010). Ethical concerns: -Nike may face some ethical issue if employees will not treat fairly by the company and if they are not given with initiative to come up in front and work for the company. It is observed from the studies that the Nike is not offering good environment and attractive wages to its employees and the employees also went to initiate a protest in Vietnam and this affects the sales of the company. Nike needs to focus on retaining its employees and making them feel an integral part of the company so that they can work for the company enthusiastically and with full zeal (Murphy Mathew, 2001). Social media interactions: The social media interactions may cause a serious problem for Nike as the social media news channels may broadcast some unethical news on the TV or newspaper that may put down the image of the company and also distracts the customers. The negative news about the company will affect the marketing of shoes and sports items. Advancement of technology and Globalization: - Nike has witnessed a great change since past few decades in all the countries. For Nike, there are no clear threats of entry of competitors in economies which are still not developed. Moreover, customers who have been used to good quality products cannot change to new brands easily since people from different parts of the world have been recommending products from this company. The marketing mix of price is applicable here as the quality matters to customers but not the price. In addition, with the development of technology and globalization, it may be possible that competitors provide almost same efficient product, with low price, as the copyrights and fake products with the same name are introduced and this may confuse the customers and may create a serious issue for Nike. Thus, there is a strong need for the Nike to consider charging high costs for their services to promote quality of their services (Ziek, 2013). Impact: It is an obvious thing that these contemporary issues will have the negative impact on marketing if no attention is given to these small things. These issues will have a great impact on the consumer behavior of the Nike. As it is very important for every organization to understand what they actually think about the company and they will be satisfied and happy. Talking about the CSR and ethical concerns they are the main factors that help in improving the brand image of the company and will show the positive image of the Nike. Apart from this, the negativity against the Nike may affect the sales and give advantage to the competitors like Reebok, Adidas and Puma etc. If once the brand image of Nike goes down because of these ethical issues, then it will directly affect the Sales and revenue of the company and decrease the customer base (Mujtaba, Cavico, Jones, 2005). There are many chances that people may shift to other brands if the brand image of the Nike goes down. Recommendations As discussed earlier about the issues that can be faced by the Nike at the time of promotion, there must need to take some corrective actions and some key points should be kept in mind for the successful marketing activities: - 1. For Nike, it is very important to maintain its brand image. As a result of which, Nike should need to stay away from the controversies and interactions with the social media to avoid the situation and maintains a good image in front of the people.2.The brand promotion is also done by doing something for the welfare of the society as it is a social responsibility of every organization.3.The People in the Nike should be given a proper working environment as the employees are the main source for the promotion of the products like Shoes, clothes and sports equipments (Newell, 2015).4.The prices of all the products like running shoes, clothes, athletic accessories, etc. need to be reduced to attract more customers.5.The production houses should be located away from the city in future to save the environment. 6.While introducing a new product in the market, the target area should be customer satisfaction and for this the value and demands of the customers should well studied and focused on. 7.The solution to these ethical issues would be effective marketing techniques, realizing the long term life time developments. Another way to solve this problem would be to come up with ways that are less formal and those that consume less time. 8. here is a need for the Nike to fasten up their internal management and make the learning process regarding the needs of the customers properly explained to all employees (Epstein, Buhovac, Yuthas, 2010).9.There should be a team effort by the employees of the Nike as every person should share the knowledge he or she has with others so as to collectively learn more quickly and also to get better and efficient results by these practices and methods.10.ike should cope-up with new technologies to sustain in the market and doing well as compared to the other competitors. Conclusion As this report was all about the marketing Mix of Nike and all the 8 Ps are described in detail and the impact of the ethical issues evaluated with recommendations. Thus, it is concluded that Nike is the best brand in the category of shoes, apparels and all sports accessories and it just needs to focus on the public relation and social responsibility to remain the worlds best brand. All the marketing Mix elements like product, people, place, price, promotion, partnerships, physical evidence and process should be kept in mind while promoting the products. Nike need to focus more to attract new customers and should put some efforts to reduce the cost of the products. The customers of Nike are attracted because of its variety and fast service of launching new stock and taking care of the new trends and tastes of the customers. Apart from it, the Customers of Nike do not care about that how the business is running, but they are attracted towards the services and working of the Nike brand stores. Till now, Nike is the best and popular brand for its quality and customer services. References Ahmed, R., Brohi, H., Bhutto, A., Abbas, Z. (2016, April). Strategic Marketing Plan of Nike. He is an abstract expressionist who’s work has become lessliteral in the past few years. Mesches started exhibiting in 1945 with the supportof his wife. Meshes has a very original way of making his work. He takes a veryfamous painting, paints it on the canvas, then he blends over it by scratching andscraping. Then he paints over the old one with one of his own. Thus, creating awhole new painting. Art In Public Places I is a perfect example of this. In the background hehas placed the March of Liberty, a painting with the Statue of Liberty and peoplemarching. After blending and scratching that, he placed two people being hung. There is much significance to these two people because they are Mussolini andhis mistress. Hanging upside down, and by their feet, signifies that freedom hascome because Mussolini is dead. Mesches also shows that freedom is here tostay becuase of the Statue of Liberty, with all the people around it. The statuehas always been a sign of freedom, so when Mesches placed this in thebackground, he knew exactly what he was doing.Arts Essays
